The Food House

If you're wandering around Banbridge and stumble across 82 Newry Street, you might just find yourself in front of The Food House-a casual, trendy eatery that’s earned quite the local buzz. Whether you're craving a comforting breakfast, a punchy burger, or just a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, this spot knows how to hit the mark.

Right off the bat, The Food House makes a strong impression with its bright, inviting interior and relaxed, no-fuss vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back solo with a latte and a book or dive into lunch with a group of friends. The vibe is unpretentious but still feels stylish, and accessibility is clearly part of the design, with both a wheelchair-friendly car park and entrance making it a welcoming space for all.

Now let’s talk food-because that’s where this place really shines.

Breakfast lovers, you’re in for a treat. The Full Breakfast is a morning champion, balancing crispy bacon, eggs, toast, and all the works without ever feeling greasy. For something a little lighter but just as satisfying, the Avocado Toast brings a creamy, fresh hit with a pinch of spice that elevates it beyond the usual. Add a Breakfast Burrito to your order if you're leaning toward something with a bit of flair-it’s wrapped to perfection and stuffed with enough flavor to wake you up instantly.

Coffee here is no afterthought. It’s a cornerstone. From a smooth, velvety Cortado to the more popular Latte, the baristas know what they're doing. The Americano comes bold and hot, and there's no shortage of regulars who pop in just for their daily caffeine fix. It’s also worth mentioning that the coffee pairs incredibly well with one of their warm, cheesy Paninis if you’re aiming for a mid-morning bite.

Lunch at The Food House leans indulgent but never overdone. Their Korean Chicken Burger is one of those dishes that makes you stop mid-chew to appreciate what’s happening in your mouth-crispy chicken glazed with a sticky-sweet heat, tucked into a fresh bun, and finished with slaw for crunch. Prefer something classic? The Cheesesteak is generously portioned, meaty, and melty-just the way you want it.

If you're in the mood for handheld comfort, the Mexican Wrap and the Chicken Sandwich offer solid options. Both are flavorful without being heavy, and they come out quickly, which is perfect if you're stopping by on your lunch break. For a crispy fix, you can’t go wrong with the Chicken Goujons with Chips-golden, tender, and exactly as satisfying as they sound.

And yes, they serve takeaway too, which is a big win if you're grabbing lunch on the go or want to enjoy your meal somewhere else in town. That said, the dine-in experience is worth staying for, especially when the place gets lively with locals chatting over burgers or sipping cortados by the window.

What really sets The Food House apart from other casual eateries is its balance of comfort and trend. It’s clearly designed with modern tastes in mind, but the food feels timeless. You’re not overwhelmed with gimmicks-just straightforward, flavor-forward meals done right. It’s also one of those places that feels just as suited for a solo laptop session as it does for a weekend catch-up over brunch.

If you're comparing it to bigger chain cafés or diners, The Food House offers a more personal, neighborhood-centric experience. It doesn’t try too hard-it just delivers, consistently. And that’s rare.

So, whether you're after a quiet spot to enjoy a well-pulled espresso or need a satisfying burger fix between errands, The Food House knows exactly how to keep you coming back.

Absolutely gorgeous little find. Fabulous vibe the morning we are here, very Christmassy and cosy. Super happy atmosphere. Our waitress was so helpful and the food was fantastic. We had Avacado on sourdough with side salad if rocket and butternut squash. Lovely to see seasonal ingredients included.

Stunning food and very kind and courteous staff, large menu selection with milkshakes and burgers a speciality. Big portions so chips are not part of the burger menu but I found this more than acceptable! Definately would recommend and will be returning, great place to stop.

Great food in this place usually but ordered a take away chuck wagon and got some Caesar monstrosity instead, only noticed when I got home. Disaster.

I went with some friends for the first time, and we had different dishes and in general the food was tasty but very spicy (if you can't tolerate it, it's best to ask before ordering) but the negative point for us was when they put the water bottles on the table, I couldn't drink them because they were visibly very dirty inside, so I don't know how they can serve something like that to the customer. In general, the food is tasty and the prices are fair, but they need to review the hygiene of the bottles.
